A Smashing Cross Counter Assignment Quest Monster Hunter World Iceborne

Our next Assignment Quest in Monster Hunter World Iceborne is the Master-Rank Quest, A Smashing Cross Counter. We’re up against one of the new monsters introduced in Iceborne, the Brachydios.

New monsters are popping up everywhere due to Velkhana’s influence, even in the Elder’s Recess. Head out and investigate this Brahydios. Be cautious of its explosive slime attacks.

Client: Commander – Monster Hunter World Iceborne

Brachydios attacks by using an explosive slime that it coats its arms in before attacking. You can use water or ice elemental attacks to essentially wash it off of its arms, limiting its ability to inflict the blastscourge status on you. The puddles of slime it leaves behind will change colour as they get closer to exploding, giving you an indicator of the time remaining. You don’t want to be anywhere near these puddles when they go. If you find yourself inflicted with Blastscourge, which is highly likely, you can perform 4-5 rolls to get rid of the status.

To counter the Blastscourge, you can use either a Fireproof Mantle or the Immunity Mantle. Both will prevent you from being inflicted with the status. You can also take armor or jewels that grant the skill Blast Resistance, the third level of this prevents the Blastscourge status.

Brachydios is weak to Ice and Water elements. Its weak points are the head, arms, and tail. You can break or sever the head, arms, and tail.
