Area information for the Henne Mines of Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age

North Entrance

When you first enter the Henne Mines you’ll arrive in the area called North Entrance. As you head south toward the exit, activate the switch on the pillar just before the road forks. In the Henne Mines, these gate switches control whether the Red or Blue gates are open. Turn it Blue and then head south into the next area.

Pithead Junction A

Activate the switch in front of you to have a bunch of Jelly enemies drop from the ceiling. Defeat them and then take either the south or east exits from this area. Both lead to the same circular path.

Phase 1 Shaft

Continue to follow the path, regardless of which exit you took until you reach the southeast corner, where you’ll find the Map of the Henne Mines. Head back to the Pithead Junction A area and hit the switch again, this time it should open the western exit, head through to arrive at the western section of the Phase 1 Shaft. Follow the path to the end and into the Phase 1 Dig area.

Phase 1 Dig

There are a ton of treasure chests in this area, but the important ones containing gear are the ones you’ll want to head straight for. The rest mostly will just give you Gil or Motes of various types. Start by following the map to the first large 4-way junction. From here head west and go to the southwest corner. Here you can find a small offshoot to the north, which doesn’t actually appear on the map, you’ll be ‘off map’ when you enter it. Here you have a chance to spawn two chests, one containing a Mages Habit and the other containing a Brigandine. Follow the path east until you’re nearing the exit to the next area. Here in the junction where the east passage suddenly turns north, you can spawn a chest containing Shielded Armor. This is armor that constantly applies a Protect spell effect to its wearer and is great for anyone who can equip Heavy Armor. Grab as many as you need by heading through the nearby exit and rezoning, to respawn the chest. North of the exit to the next area is a single spawn chest containing a Bonecrusher as well. Head through the exit when you’re done, into Crossover A

Crossover A

South of the entrance into Crossover A you can spawn a chest containing a Flame Shield, this is a great shield as well, so stock up on one for anyone in the party that can use it. When you’re ready head through the northeast exit into Crossover B

Crossover B

Follow the path north, east, and then finally south to find the exit to Pithead Junction B.

Pithead Junction B

A large number of Jellies will drop from the ceiling once you activate the switchboard here. So either make sure you have a healer and a Fira Magick caster ready in the party or flee as soon as you hit the switch. This area is great for level farming, and we’ll be revisiting it after the next couple of story sections are done. Take the west exit back into the Crossover A area, from here head north and take the northeast exit into the Crossover B area once again. This time the opposite gates will be open and you’ll need to head south and around the edge of the area until you can take the north exit into the Staging Shaft area.

Staging Shaft

Here you’ll trigger a scene as you enter, use the Save Crystal ahead of you once it’s over, to add this location to your Teleport destinations. For the battle ahead, make sure your tank is equipped with Shielded Armor and a strong Shield as well. The Boss here has some hard-hitting physical attacks that can inflict Petrify, so make sure someone is set up to cure that. When you’re prepared, head through the exit to the north to trigger the Boss Battle.

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age - Tiamat Boss Battle

Tiamat will mostly focus on one character at a time, so keep your shielded tank in front and let everyone else focus on healing and ranged damage. Tiamat will cast reflect on itself if you use magick so be sure to stick to ranged physical type damage like bows, guns, and crossbows. If someone has Remedy Lore 1 learned, they can use Remedy’s to remove the Sap status that Tiamat’s breath attacks will inflict. Other than that, he has a huge health pool so just focus on staying alive and dealing consistent damage, eventually you’ll come out on top and trigger some more cutscenes.

Eruyt Village

After the battle, you’ll be returned to Eruyt Village for some scenes. From here exit the village, stock up on anything you might need from the Moogle near the Save Crystal, and head back into the Golmore Jungle. We now have the ability to pass through the previously blocked areas, meaning we can fully explore the Jungle this time.

Golmore Jungle and the Elder Wyrm – Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age

Golmore Jungle

From the entrance to Eruyt Village, you’ll need to continue east through the Jungle.

Whisperleaf Way

Head east through the Whisperleaf Way and take the exit into the Parting Glade.

The Parting Glade

Grab the chest in the southwest corner containing an Amber Armlet, it only spawns once. Then use the Save Crystal, the Boss that is in the next area can be a real nuisance. You’ll need to make sure that everyone has the ability to clear status effects with Remedies or Esuna. The Bosses strategy is to inflict multiple status effects on each of your character’s including Slow, Break, Blind, Silence, Confuse, and Oil. It will then proceed to annihilate the party with Fireballs. If one of your characters has been learning the Remedy Lore’s then they will be able to cure most of the status effects here by using a Remedy. Set up your gambits and head north when you’re ready.

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age - Elder Wyrm Boss Battle

As above, make sure your Gambits are set up to cure status ailments. Spread your party out so that its Sporefall attack doesn’t hit everyone at the same time as well. Sporefall only affects those, roughly in a cone shape pattern in front of the Elder Wyrm. Have whichever party member is being targeted move behind the Elder Wyrm so that when Sporefall triggers the others can just focus on removing status effects from one member instead of it affecting everyone. Once the battle is over, check for the chest in the area, it contains 9,872 Gil. Take the eastern exit into The Branchway when you’re ready.

The Branchway

Follow the path east until it branches. Take the southern branch and check the western dead-end here, for a chest that can contain a Black Belt. Take the eastern exit into the next area.

The Greenswathe

About midway along the southern path of the Greenswathe you can spawn a chest containing an Argyle Armlet. Grab what you want from Golmore Jungle and then take the exit to the east to arrive in the Paramina Rift.

Paramina Rift – Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age

Paramina Rift

Freezing Gorge

As you head south through the Freezing Gorge towards the exit to the Frozen Brook you can find a chest with Shielded Armor on the east wall. You can find another chest to the west of the “Y” intersection south of the Shielded Armor, this chest can contain a Mage’s Habit. The final chest is on the south branch of the “Y” intersection and contains a Brigandine. Take the south exit into the Frozen Brook.

Frozen Brook

Stick to the eastern wall as you head southeast to find a chest containing a Bangle, not far from where you entered the area. South of the Bangle’s location, in the middle of the river, a chest containing an Elfin Bow can spawn. Near the river in the lower eastern section of the map, you can find a chest with Long Bolts inside. A chest containing Parallel Arrows can appear to the northeast of the exit to the Karydine Glacier. Take the southeast exit when you’re ready.

Karydine Glacier

About halfway down the eastern wall of where you entered from you can find a chest containing a Power Rod. South of the Power Rod chest, is a dead-end that can house three chests. Each of the three holds one of the following; Six-fluted Pole, Murasame, and Betelgeuse. Follow the southern wall around to its south-most tip to find a chest with a Gaia Rod. North of the Gaia Rod, against a wall you can find another chest holding a Thorned Mace. The northeastern dead-end on the map holds a chest containing the Death Magick spell. In the northwestern corner of the map, you’ll find a chest holding an Ice Shield. Take the northwest exit into the Icebound Flow from here.

Icebound Flow

Follow the wall south until it turns east, in here you’ll find a chest holding Lamia’s Tiara. Continue to follow the south wall to the west, about halfway along, you’ll find a chest with a Diamond Shield inside. Continue to follow the south wall towards the exit to the Feywood to find another chest, this one holding a Recurve Crossbow. To the north of where you found the Diamond Shield, you can find another chest in the open, containing a Close Helmet. About halfway up the western side of the map, you can find a chest with a Headband inside. Continue to follow the western wall, north from the Headband chest to find another chest containing Demonsbane, just as the wall is turning to the east. Cross the river to the eastern wall from where you found the Demonsbane to find another chest, this one containing a Storm Spear. Near the northeastern exit, to the Frozen Brook, you can find a chest in the middle of the path containing a Jujitsu Gi. Take the exit into the Frozen Brook and then southeast, back into the Karydine Glacier. This time take the southwest exit into the northwestern section of Silverflow’s End.

Silverflow’s End (West)

Head to the south tip of this area, to find a cluster of four chests that can spawn here, these chests can contain a Hunting Crossbow, Platinum Shield, and Loxley Bow. Head north back into the Karydine Glacier and take the northeast exit back to the Frozen Brook. This time take the southwest exit to arrive in the Path of the Firstfall.

Path of the Firstfall

Use the Save Crystal here to heal up and save your game before continuing on and taking the west exit to the Spine of the Icewyrm.

Spine of the Icewyrm

Head south and grab the chest at the bottom before the exit, containing Revive. Continue through the south exit to reach the eastern part of Silverflow’s End.

Silverflow’s End (East)

South of the Sledgehammer chest you can find another, this time containing a Gladius. On the west side of the map, you’ll find two small alcove areas, both of which can hold a chest, containing Icebrand or a Glacial Staff.
