Monstro – Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix

Monstro – Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix

To gain access to Monstro you’ll need to travel via Gummi ship between Agrabah and Atlantica or Halloween Town until you’re swallowed by a whale. Technically this is one of the worlds that is completely missable on a playthrough, just like the 100 Acre Woods.

Once your inside you’ll trigger some scenes from Sora’s memories along with some weather forecasting by Goofy. Seems like Pinocchio is trapped in here as well. Head towards the boat that is inside Monstro to meet Geppetto, Pinocchio’s Father. You’ll find a save point here on the boat so make sure to use it if you need it.

Having Difficulty Making Jumps?

Monstro can be a difficult place to reach all the chests if you are not great at the platforming aspect of this game, so if you want you can essentially skip a lot of the content here until you unlock the High Jump ability. High Jump will make the platforming MUCH more forgiving. For the quickest route to the High Jump Ability simply scroll down to the heading I’ve marked as “Chamber 1**”.

Follow the guide from there until you get to Chamber 5, once there head straight through the doorway to Chamber 4, instead of grabbing the Dalmations. After the Boss Battle, you’ll unlock High-Jump and can simply start the guide again from the start to unlock everything. At that point, all the platforming will be much easier, and falling off of an area while trying to clear enemies won’t matter, as you can simply jump back up to where you were in most cases. Back to the guide!

Once you’re done head into the first Chamber within Monstro, Chamber 1. You’ll trigger a scene in here with Riku, while Pinocchio runs off deeper into the whale. Once the conversation is over you’ll regain control of Sora and a new enemy will appear. Defeat them and head into Chamber 3.

Chamber 3

Defeat the enemies, open the chest for a Mega-Ether. Head back to Chamber 1 once your done.

Chamber 1

There is a small ledge here, jump up and use the opening here to head into Chamber 2.

Chamber 2

Defeat the enemies that spawn to access the chest containing a Cottage. Take the exit to Chamber 3.

Chamber 3

Where you are, you’ll need to be careful not to fall off. Defeat the enemies with ranged spells like Thunder and Fire if you need to. Once they’re gone, pickup and move the nearby barrels to underneath the edge of the platform above you. Jump on the barrels to get the extra height needed to grab the ledge and pull yourself up to the chest, containing Dalmations 55, 56, and 57. Drop back down off the ledge and take the 2nd exit to Chamber 2.

**If all the barrels are destroyed you can always go one screen away and return to respawn them. Enemies only respawn if you go 2 screens or more away. So you wont accidentally respawn them if your careful.**

Chamber 2

Our next new enemy will appear here:

New Heartless: Barrel Spider

HP:24
EXP:3
Drops:Mythril Shard (1%)
Camping Set (1%)
Cottage (0.5%)
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix - New Heartless: Barrel Spider

The biggest issue with Barrel Spiders is that they will explode all of the regular barrels. You can use Thunder magic to try and clear them out. Or just let them all explode, then using the trick above, go back one screen and re-enter the area to reload the real barrels.

Once you’re done dealing with the enemies, jump the gap and grab the chest containing a Megalixir. Then return across the gap and use the doorway to Chamber 5.

Chamber 5

Defeat the enemies and claim the 2 chests containing, a Thundaga-G and a Mega-Ether. Here you’ll also find our next Blue Trinity (#13) activating this Trinity will produce a Cottage and a bunch of Munny to collect. Once you’re done, head into Chamber 6.

Chamber 6

Defeat the enemies and open the chest containing Dalmations 76, 77, and 78. You’ll then want to make your way to the top steps here, defeat any more enemies you encounter, and then use a barrel to reach the ledge above you for a chest containing a Torn Page, one of the items used to unlock more progress in the 100 Acre Woods back at Merlins House in Traverse Town. Dropdown afterward and head into Chamber 3.

Chamber 3

Defeat the enemies and open the chest to grab an Osmose-G gummi ship part. You can use more close by barrels to access another high ledge for a Flare-G in a chest as well. Once you’re done, jump down and use the exit to Chamber 1.

Chamber 1**

Head straight for the opening to Chamber 2.

Chamber 2

Head straight for Chamber 3.

Chamber 3

Make a left turn into the doorway to Chamber 2.

Chamber 2

Use the exit to Chamber 5.

Chamber 5

Head straight to Chamber 6.

Chamber 6

Use the exit to Chamber 5 at the top of the steps.

Chamber 5

From where you enter, you’ll need to defeat any enemies you can before using a barrel to access the higher ledges for a Mythril in a chest. You can jump across these platforms to reach the far side, defeat any more enemies that spawn here and claim the chest for Dalmations 79, 80, and 81. Head back across the platforms and jump down to where we started, from here use the exit to Chamber 4 to trigger some scenes with Riku and Maleficient.

Chamber 4

After the scenes you can use the save point if you need and then head through the doorway to Monstro’s Bowels.

Bowels

Here you’ll trigger our first Boss of the area.

Boss Battle: Parasite Cage

Boss:Parasite Cage
HP:450
EXP:500
Rewards:Cheer Ability (Goofy)
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix - Parasite Cage Boss Battle

You should be a high enough level by now that this fight wont be that hard, cast Aero on yourself to halve the incoming damage and simply target the upper portions of the Parasite Cage with Jump Attacks until it goes down.

Once the fight is over, jump into the hole in floor that is left behind.

Monstro’s Mouth Revisit

A cutscene will show the water level in Monstro dropping to reveal several new platforms for us. After the scenes are done, open the chest on Geppetto’s Ship to claim the High-Jump Shared Ability. Make sure to equip it in the options menu!

Use the save point if you need it, then using your new and improved jumping abilities, make your way onto the roof of the boat to find our next Green Trinity (#7), activate it for a chest containing a Mythril Shard.

Nearby to Geppetto’s Ship is a chest you can now reach containing a Scan-G. If you can jump around the side of this “pile” in front of you to grab the other side you’ll find another chest containing a Cottage.

Jump into the water and swim to the other side of Monstro’s Mouth to find a Blue Trinity (#14). Activating it will give you a Cottage and 2x Potions. From there, continue jumping between the platforms on this side of the mouth to reach another chest, this one containing the Watergleam Gem. This can be given to the Fairy Godmother for the Summon Spell Dumbo.

There is one more chest nearby here that can be reached by jumping towards the back of the mouth starting from the platform with the Blue Trinity. You should be able to see the chest from the spot with the Watergleam Gem. This last chest contains Dalmations 73, 74, and 75.

Chamber 6 Revisit

Once you’re done there are a couple more items to claim inside Monstro now that we have High-Jump. Head through Chamber 1 into Chamber 3 and then finally into Chamber 6.

Once in Chamber 6 you’ll want to defeat all the enemies. There are 2 chests here on the upper level that can now be platformed to, since you have high-jump. Open them to claim a Megalixir and a Mythril. Once you’re done head back to Chamber 1. You’ll find an opening leading directly there, in Chamber 6.

Monstro’s Stomach

Save at Geppetto’s Ship and then jump across to the far side of Monstro’s Mouth and platform hop your way to the upper most level. There is a doorway directly above the one we usually use to get to Chamber 1. This is the same doorway that Riku used in an earlier scene. Head in to reach the Throat.

In here, stay on ground level and defeat the enemies to be able to access Blue Trinity (#15) for a Mythril Shard and some Munny.

Climb to the top to enter the stomach. After some more scenes you’ll trigger our next Boss Battle.

Boss Battle: Parasite Cage (Stomach)

Boss:Parasite Cage
HP:900
EXP:1000
Rewards:Stop Magic Upgrade
(Duration of Stop equals Characters Max MP +2, in seconds.)
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix - Parasite Cage (Stomach) Boss Battle

This next fight with the Parasite Cage will go the same as the last. Make sure to keep Aero up, as he now inflicts Poison and has much more HP. Hit his head enough to expose the purple “Core” inside him to deal a ton of damage and also have him release HP orbs for you. Keep up the damage and keep yourself healed, the fight should be over soon.

Once that’s done, we’ll be spat out to land somewhere near Agrabah. Land here in the Storage Room if you want to do some of the World Revisits we can access now that you have High-Jump. Or you can head straight to Olympus Coliseum for the next Cup.

Agrabah Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix

After Monstro you’ll be spat out to land in Agrabah, while we’re here you can complete some things that required High-Jump to access.

Monstro – Post Hollow Bastion

Disembark from the Gummi Ship and head through the Mouth and into Chamber 1. Follow the passage into Chamber 3 and then take the upper right exit into Chamber 6.

Here you’ll need to defeat all the Heartless before you can access the next White Trinity (#6), activate it for a chest containing Dark Matter.

Thats all we needed here, so backtrack out into Chamber 3, then Chamber 1, and board your Gummi Ship to head over to Atlantica.

Atlantica Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix

Continue our White Trinity hunt in Atlantica next.
