Crafting Materials
Crafting Materials are a resource in Final Fantasy XVI, used at the Blacksmith to craft and reinforce equipment as you progress through your journey. They form a vital part of maintaining your survivability throughout the game.
Most materials and recipes are found by completing quests, defeating monsters, opening lockboxes, and being picked up off of the ground.
Below you’ll find a list of all crafting materials along with our individual guides for each material, which cover their locations, where to find them and how to use them.

| Bloody Hide | Can be purchased from shops. Obtained as an enemy drop from the following enemies; Worgen, Woldhound, Royal Mastiff, and Royal Folkstaf. Reward for some Side Quests. Can be obtained from Lockboxes. |
| Bomb Ember | Obtained as a reward from the Bomb King Hunt. |
| Bone Necklace | Obtained as a reward from the “Needs of the Many” Quest. Obtained as a drop from the Gigas enemy. |
| Briar Clam Shell | Purchased from Charon’s Toll Shop for 30 Gil. |
| Clouded Eye | Can be obtained as a reward for completing the Aruna or Gizamaluk Hunts. Can be dropped by Wind Elementals. Also dropped by the Suparna and Chirada enemies. |
| Clutchmine | Purchased from Charon’s Toll Shop for 50 Gil. Also obtained during the “Laid to Rest” and “An Inconvenient Truth” |
| Coeurl Whisker | Dropped by the Coeurl enemies. Obtained from the Bygul Hunt. |
| Comet Feather | Obtained as a reward from the “Dread Comet” Hunt. |
| Dark Shard | Obtained from defeating Barnabas at the Tower of Illusion. |
| Darksteel | Obtained from the Thanatos and Prince of Death Hunts. |
| Desert Rose | Purchased from Charon’s Toll Shop for 40 Gil. |
| Dragon Talon | Obtained as a reward from the Belphegor Hunt. Dropped by Aevis type enemies including: Dragon Aevis, Imperial Dragon Aevis, Imperial War Aevis, and Elite War Aevis. |
| Earth Shard | Obtained as a reward for defeating Hugo in Rosalith. |
| Earthen Fury | Reward for defeating the Titan and Titan Lost enemies. |
| Electrum | Reward for completing the Severian Hunt. |
| Fallen Iron | Can be obtained from the Iron Giant enemies. Also obtained as a reward for completing the Atlas Hunt. |
| Fire Shard | Obtained as a reward for defeating the Infernal Shadow enemy at the Phoenix Gate. |
| Frozen Tear | Reward for defeating the Dominant of Shiva. |
| Gelatinous Mass | Reward for defeating the Flan Prince Hunt. |
| Gnarled Scale | Defeat the Fafnir enemy in the Greatwood or the Flame Lizard enemy on Mt Drustanus. |
| Grimalkin Hide | Reward for completing the Grimalkin Hunt. |
| Ice Shard | Obtained for completing the “Through the Maelstrom” Quest. |
| Imperial Link | Dropped by the Knight of the Dying Sun and the Imperial Cannonier enemies. |
| Iron Filing | Found in the starting area for the “Sunrise, Sunset” Quest. |
| Light Shard | Obtained as a reward for defeating Bahamut. |
| Lightning Shard | Obtained as a drop from defeating the Republican War Panther. Can also be obtained by defeating the Svarog, Atlas, or Gorgimera Hunts. |
| Liquid Flame | Dropped by the Liquid Flame enemy. Obtained from the “Fire and Ice” Quest. |
| Magicked Ash | Purchased from Charon’s Toll Shop for 40 Gil. Also obtained from numerous Quests as rewards, and monsters as drops. |
| Meteorite | Purchased from Charon’s Toll Shop for 1,000 Gil. Also obtained from numerous Quests as rewards, and monsters as drops. |
| Minotaur Mane | Obtained as a reward for completing the Sekhret Hunt. Also obtained as a drop for defeating the Minotaur enemy. |
| Morbol Flower | Obtained as a Quest Reward for the “Please Sir, Can I Have Some Morbol?” or as a reward from the Carrot Hunt. |
| Orichalcum | Obtained as a reward from the Atlas, Svarog, Gorgimera, and Behemoth King Hunts. Also obtained by completing the “Under New Management II” Quest. |
| Primitive Battlehorn | Obtained as a reward for the Gobermouch Hunt. |
| Sanguine Insignia | Defeat the Sleipnir enemy. |
| Scarletite | Quest Reward for the “Hot Water” Quest. Also obtained as a reward from the Dozmare, Fastitocalon, The Ten of Clubs, and Holy Trumpitour Hunts. |
| Sharp Fang | Purchased from Charon’s Toll Shop for 40 Gil. Also obtained from numerous Quests as rewards, and monsters as drops. |
