Barret’s Limit Breaks

During Final Fantasy VII (FFVII, FF7) Barret will gain access to a total of seven Limit Breaks to learn. In general, he’ll learn new Limit Breaks by defeating enemies and also by using previously unlocked Limit Breaks.

Level 1 Limit Breaks

Big Shot

Big Shot is Barret’s first Limit Break and the one he begins the game having access to use.

The Big Shot Limit Break deals 3.125x Barret’s regular attack damage to a single enemy.

Mindblow

The Mindblow Limit Break is unlocked after using Boost Jump a total of 9 times in battle.

Mindblow drains all of the enemies remaining MP.

Level 2 Limit Breaks

Grenade Bomb

Barret’s Level 2 Limit Break, Grenade Bomb, unlocks after he has defeated 80 enemies in battle.

Grenade Bomb deals 3.375x Barret’s regular attack damage to one single enemy, or a lesser amount to each enemy if there are more than one on the field.

Hammer Blow

To unlock the Hammer Blow Limit Break you’ll need to use Grenade Bomb 8 times in battle.

The Hammer Blow Limit Break inflicts the “Instant Death” status on an enemy. Will not work if the enemy is immune.

Level 3 Limit Breaks

Satellite Beam

To unlock Satellite Beam you’ll need Barret to defeat 80 enemies in battle after having unlocked the Hammer Blow Limit Break

Satellite Beam will hit all enemies in a battle for 2x Barret’s regular attack damage.

Angermax

You’ll unlock the second Level 3 Limit Break, Angermax, after using Satellite Beam a total of 6 times in battle.

Angermax attacks random enemies for a total of 18 hits, each dealing 0.5x Barret’s regular attack damage with each hit.

Level 4 Limit Breaks

Catastrophe

Barret’s Level 4 Limit Break, Catastrophe, is unlocked by returning to North Corel after obtaining the Huge Materia and stopping the Train.

For Barret’s Catastrophe Limit Break, he will attack random enemies for a total of 10 shots, each dealing 1.25x his regular attack damage.

Loose Cannon Trophy

Unlocking Barret’s Catastrophe Limit Break will also unlock the “Loose Cannon” Trophy for your playthrough.
