Eikons Guide

Eikons are Final Fantasy XVI’s version of the series Summons. They’ve gone by different names in other games, Guardian Forces, Eidolin’s, and Aeons. Typically they are huge mythical beasts or creatures of immense power, they allow the player access to their powers by having them join your party and giving you the ability to summon them in battle.

Eikons in Final Fantasy XVI are tethered to people, an Eikon can awaken inside a person called a Dominant. These Dominants are then granted use of the summon’s power but at a very large cost to themselves. What the Eikons Dominant decides to use this power for is up to them, and you’ll discover people with different drives during the course of the story.

Phoenix

Phoenix Eikon – Final Fantasy XVI (FF16)

Phoenix is the first Aspect of Fire that you will encounter and plays a large role in the story of Final Fantasy XVI.

Eikonic Feat: Phoenix Shift

Allows the player to quickly close the gap between the target and themselves.

Abilities:

  • Rising Flame – Summon a Fiery Wing that deals damage and can launch light enemies into the air.
  • Scarlet Cyclone – Spin quickly, creating a ring of fire to burn all enemies.
  • Heatwave – Summon a projectile-dispelling wall of liquid flame before launching several deadly shockwaves. Wave force is amplified upon dispelling magic. **This is a Ranged-Magic Counter**
  • Flames of Rebirth – Summon a pillar of flames that burn all enemies caught within it, while also restoring HP to Clive.

Phoenix Guide

Ifrit

Ifrit Eikon – Final Fantasy XVI (FF16)

Ifrit the Infernal Eikon is the second Fire Aspect, and along with Phoenix, plays a large role in the game’s story.

Eikonic Feat: Wildfire

Grants a large burst of speed mid-battle.

Abilities:

  • Ignition – Attack while charging, inflicts multiple hits, and forces the enemy back. Can be used in midair.
  • Will-o’-the-Wykes – Summons a storm of fireballs that circle around Clive. They inflict damage to nearby targets, while also absorbing damage dealt to Clive.
  • Limit Break – Use L3 and R3 when the Limit Break gauge is filled to semi-prime, improving battle performance for a short period of time.

Garuda

Garuda is the Aspect of Wind. Garuda uses her large wings to create Gales and Tornadoes. She allows Clive the use of her Talons in battle.

Eikonic Feat: Deadly Embrace

Allows Clive to grab an enemy from afar and bring it closer to him. Using this on a heavy enemy will launch Clive into the air. Staggering a heavy enemy and then using Deadly Embrace will topple the enemy, in a move called a Deadly Takedown.
