Area information for the Giza Plains (Raining) of Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age

When you’re ready to continue head through Rabanastre’s South Gate, and out into the Giza Plains. For this section of the Story, the Giza Plains will continuously be in its ‘wet season’. Once we advance the story a little more, then the Giza Plains will start to alternate between its Wet and Dry seasons each time we visit them.

There are several things we need to do while progressing through the Giza Plains this time around. We need to hunt out the new treasures in each area, cut down Withered Trees to unlock an additional area, and take on a Mark.

Withered Trees - Giza Plains

Locations for all the Withered Trees in Giza Plains during the Wet Season.
Withered Tree:Location:
1Throne Road - near the entrance to the Nomad Village
2Nomad Village - south of Cockatrice Pen
3Gizas North Bank - northeast corner of map
4Crystal Glade - northeast corner
5Toam Hills - northeast of the exit to Starfall Field
6Starfall Field - south of exit to Toam Hills

Throne Road

When you first enter the Giza Plains you’ll arrive in the Throne Road area. If you head toward the south exit, you’ll pass a withered-looking white tree (1) on your right-hand side, west on the map. Interact with it to have your party leader cut it down and let it float off into the distance. If we cut down all of these trees as we go, they will eventually create a bridge for us to reach a new area. Head south now.

Nomad Village

In the middle of the Cockatrice Pen, you’ll find a chest containing the Regen spell, grab it. In the southeast corner of the map, you’ll find our next Withered Tree (2) to cut down as well. Speak to Sadeen while you’re here to formally accept the Croakadile Hunt. Take the west exit out of the village into Toam Hills.

Toam Hills

Head south as though you were headed to the southern exit, but instead, continue past it going east. In the northeastern corner of this dead-end, you’ll find another Withered Tree (3) to cut down. Once you’ve done that, use the south exit into the Starfall Field area.

Starfall Field

Directly south of where you entered from, you’ll find another Withered Tree (4) to cut down. In the very center of this area is where the Croakadile will spawn. It will jump out of nowhere as you approach, so don’t worry if you cannot see it initially.

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age - Croakadile Boss Battle

The Croakadile has numerous buffs on itself at the start of the battle and will pause to try and reapply them if you Dispel them. Make sure you have someone in the party with access to Dispel for this fight, get rid of its initial buffs, and hit it with Dispel as it applies new ones. At 40% and 10% health it will use a move that doubles its level, so try to wrap up the fight quickly once you have it under half health, as its damage and defense will greatly increase as the fight goes on. It should go down easily enough for you if you stay on top of removing its buffs, you’ll receive the Ring of the Toad as proof of your victory.

Head back to the Nomad Village and speak to Sadeen to turn in the Completed Hunt for 1200 Gil, a Serpent Rod, and a Teleport Stone. He’ll ask you to deliver the ring, which we’ll do in a later section.

From the Nomad Village, take the north exit back to the Throne Road, then head for the west exit to reach the Warrior’s Wash area.

Warriors Wash

In the northeast corner here, you can find a chest containing a Rose Corsage. In the westernmost dead-end, you’ll find another chest, this one can contain a Feathered Cap. The southwest dead-end can contain a chest with a Green Beret inside. With that done, head through the east exit back to the Throne Road area and take the eastern exit here to reach the Gizas North Bank area.

Gizas North Bank

In the northeastern corner, you’ll find another of the Withered Trees (5) to cut down. There are two dead-end areas in the southwest, both of which can contain a chest with a weapon inside, one is the Slasher, the other is an Iron Pole. Grab them and exit to the south.

Gizas South Bank

On the northside of this area, in the dead-end to the west, you can spawn a chest containing a Golden Helm. On the opposite bank, you should be able to see a chest containing a Leather Gorget if it spawned. Take the west exit into the Crystal Glade next.

Crystal Glade

Here in the northeast, you’ll find the final Withered Tree (6) to cut down. With all the Withered Trees now cut down, the way to the Tracks of the Beast area will be open. To head there, take the east exit from the Crystal Glade and the new southeast exit from the Gizas South Bank area. You’ll arrive in the Tracks of the Beast.

Tracks of the Beast

This is a tough area, all the enemies present are level 30+ and can deal a large amount of damage quickly. If you want to try your hand at collecting some great weapons and armor you’ll most likely be best off simply running from chest to chest, instead of fighting the enemies. Either way, this is what you can find: in the southwest section, you can find a chest with a Flametongue. Hug the south wall and head east to find two possible chests here, one containing a Survival Vest and the other a Traveller’s Vestament. On the north side of the area, you’ll find two chests near each other in roughly the center, the northmost of the two can contain the Magoroku. Along the north wall heading east, you’ll find a chest containing the Main Gauche. Finally, in the northeastern corner, you’ll find a chest with Golden Armor inside. Grab what you want and then head back west through Gizas South Bank, the Crystal Glade, and into the Starfall Field. From here take the south exit to the Ozmone Plain.

Area information for the Ozmone Plain of Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age

Field of Fallen Wings

You’ll find a circular section of the map on the west, in the northwest portion of the circle you can spawn a chest containing Chainmail. Near the exit to the east, leading to the Dagan Flats, you can find a chest containing a Heavy Lance. Take the south exit to the Switchback area when you’re done.

The Switchback

Here in the center of the area, down a winding path you can spawn a chest containing a Chopper. Southeast of that chest, on the upper level you can find a chest that contains Poison Bombs. Take the south exit to the Haulo Green area next.

Haulo Green

Head south along the west wall from where you enter to find a chest containing Silent Shot. In the middle of what looks like three holes in the center of the map, you can spawn a chest (near the east hole) that can contain both Parallel Arrows and a Tourmaline Ring. From here you’ll need to head north back into the Switchback area, then east into the Greensnake area, and finally northeast into the Field of Light Winds for our next lot of treasures.

Field of Light Winds

Here in the northeast, you can find a chest with Traveller’s Vestaments inside. In the southeast, you can find a chest with a Slasher inside. The last area with valuable treasure is called The Shred. To fully access it you will need a Chocobo which you can rent from the Gariff encampment. You can reach it by taking the east exit from the Greensnake area. Be aware that Chocobo’s can use shortcuts by heading to the south edge of the Field of Light Winds, or against the eastern edge of the Haulo Green area.

The Shred

The lower section of The Shred has a chest containing Long Bolts on the eastern side. While the upper, Chocobo only section, has a chest with a Green Beret in the center, and a chest with a Flametongue in the southwest corner. When you’re all done and ready to continue on, make your way back to the Haulo Green and take the west exit to Jahara.

Jahara – Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age

Jahara

Speak to the Moogle near the Chocobo Pen, and purchase the complete maps of the areas. Make sure to interact with the Save Crystal as well to add it to our roster of places we can teleport to. At the bridge you’ll find some Gariff blocking the way, speak to them for a brief scene before being allowed to cross.

Head inside the settlement and speak with the Village Elder until he tells you to speak to High-Chief Zayalu. You’ll find him speaking with a Geomancer nearby. Speak to him until he hands over the Jaya Stick. Then head over to War-Chief Supinelu, who is near the bridge to the west. He’ll take the Jaya Stick and allow you passage through to the Great Chief. Speak to the Gariff ahead of you and request a meeting, you’ll trigger a series of scenes here about the Magicite and the Gariff.

Once that is all complete you’ll receive a parting gift of a Recurve Crossbow and Onion Bolts, as well as one free trip on a Chocobo from outside the Village. Make sure to visit the Village Merchant before you leave as well, they have some great stuff in stock. Check the spells too, as you can pick up Fira here.

In the Elderknoll area of Jahara, be sure to speak to the Gariff called Low-Chief Sugumu, he is the Hunt Petitioner for the Enkelados Mark. Once you have formally accepted it we can now head off and complete it.

Enkelados Hunt and the Golmore Jungle – Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age

Exit Jahara back into the Haulo Green area. From here take the north exit to the Switchback area, then west into the Greensnake, and finally the southeast exit into The Shred. Here you need to defeat all the enemies on the northern section of the map, then exit and re-enter to spawn the Enkelados Mark.

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age - Enkelados Boss Battle

Have a character with Dispel remove his Protect and Shell status whenever he puts them up, this will waste his time reapplying them and also make the battle much easier. He will also heal himself three times during the battle, so don’t worry about the healing and just keep the pressure up. Eventually, it will fall and you’ll be rewarded with an Ermonea Leaf, head back to Jahara and turn in the hunt to receive 1,100 Gil, an Ether, and a Golden Amulet. Keep the Golden Amulets equipped on anyone not in your current party to help boost your LP gains.

The next part is optional but results in you receiving a great Bow for this stage of the game.

Rabanastre

Lovestruck Man Sidequest

Use the Save Crystal in Jahara to head back to Rabanastre. Head to the Southern Plaza area, near the fountain you should find a “lovestruck man” speak to him to hear about how much he likes the Viera. Head to the Southgate area and speak with the Viera who is near the Chocobo’s. She will leave and head to the Gambit Shop, follow here there, and speak with her. She will leave again and turn up in the Sandsea Tavern next, find her and speak to her there. She’ll mention finding her a “kindred spirit”, so head back to the Southern Plaza and speak to the Lovestruck Man again. Select the “Ok. I’ll do it” option after his dialogue, then head back to the Sandsea Tavern and speak to the Viera again. Tell her “There’s this man in the southern plaza…” afterward, make your way back to the southern plaza and speak to the both of them, they will reward you with a Loxley Bow and two Hi-Potions.

With that out of the way, you can use the Save Crystal to teleport back to Jahara.

From Jahara you’ll need to head east into the Haulo Green, north to the Switchback, east into the Greensnake, northeast into the Field of Light Winds, and then finally continue east to the Sunlit Path and Golmore Jungle. Here you’ll trigger a scene before you enter.

Area information for the Golmore Jungle of Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age

Paths of Chained Light

For now, we won’t be able to explore much of the Golmore Jungle so simply make your way to the east, as the south exit will be blocked by a magic barrier for now. Take the first south split in the path, at the end of this small split you’ll find an urn containing a map of the Golmore Jungle. Halfway between the southern split you just took and the next intersection to the west, you can spawn a chest with a chance to contain a Burgonet. Grab both of these and then make your way to the east exit.

The Needlebreak

The east exit will lead to an area called The Needlebreak, take the path west, then the first split south, and then go east. This will lead to a platform that can spawn up to three chests, one of which can contain a Mage’s Hat. Continue to follow the path east, and turn south to the dead-end for a chance of a chest containing a Red Cap. Once you’re done, head north along the path from the Red Cap chest to trigger a scene and have Fran open the way forward.

Eruyt Village – Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age

Eruyt Village

Once the scenes are complete, activate the nearby Save Crystal and speak to the nearby Moogles to buy a map of the Eruyt Village, and the other Moogle to access his shop. Grab whatever gear and new Magick you need before heading north and going deeper into the Village.

No one here will want to speak with outsiders so just push on and follow the path’s higher into the Village. Head through The Spiritwood area and up into the Fane Of The Path. Here cross the bridge to trigger a scene. After the scene is over, head east, down into the dead-end to find a chest with Haste Magick inside.

Make your way back to the village entrance, exit back out into the Golmore Jungle and make your way back to the Ozmone Plain.

In the Sunlit Path section of the Ozmone Plains, you’ll find a couple of soldiers. Speak to them and give one a Potion. For doing this he’ll allow you to use his Chocobo. Ride the Chocobo west into the Field of Light Winds. From here stick to the southern wall to find a part of the map that the Chocobo can cross, you’ll end up in the southern section of The Shred, you can finally grab those items up here if you wish. Once you’re done, take the southeast exit out into The Henne Mines, you’ll trigger a scene as you enter.
