Tutorial – Dive To The Heart – Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix
Welcome to our first episode covering Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix. We’ll be completing a 100% playthrough for you guys to follow along with. We will cover all the chests, dalmations, cutscenes, and optional bosses throughout the game. Today we’re completing the Tutorial called “Dive to the Heart” and covering the opening scenes on Destiny Islands.
The first few parts of the Tutorial are very straightforward, you’ll learn the basics of movement and combat. You’ll quickly find yourself in front of a choice between 3 platforms though, each containing a weapon. The Sword, Sheild, or Wand. These represent different “Skill Trees” for Sora. As you progress and level up, the abilities you unlock will depend on which of these 3 you choose here. Check our Abilities Guide for a detailed breakdown of Sora’s ability progression based on your choices here.
Regardless of choice, by level 100 you will have all the same skills, only the order you received them will be different. The choice also dictates slightly different stat gains along the way, these can be augmented through equipment so are not as important to worry about.
Generally, it is considered safest to take the Shield first, as this allows earlier access to defensive skills. Some of these defensive skills will make portions of the game a little easier to survive, especially if you are playing through on Proud Mode.
Continue to progress and you’ll eventually end up on a small platform with 3 Final Fantasy characters to chat with. This section will dictate your level-up speed. Basically, you can end up with 3 scenarios:
- Your journey begins in the morning meaning that your level up speed will be faster at the start of the game and require more exp later in the game.
- Your journey beginning at midday, meaning that you will require the regular amount of exp all throughout the game.
- Your journey beginning in the dead of night, you will require more exp at the start of the game but less for the later levels. This option will lead to the least amount of overall EXP needed to reach Lvl 100.

Make your choice and continue through the Tutorial until you eventually come to the boss battle with the Darkside. This is a fairly straightforward boss battle, aim for the hands when they are low enough and defeat the summoned Heartless for more Hp Orbs if you need them. Just focus on attacking the boss and it’ll be over before you know it.
