Our next Assignment Quest in Monster Hunter World Iceborne is the Master-Rank quest, A Tale Of Ice And Fire. We’re finally having our first showdown with the new Elder Dragon, Velkhana. She’s been spotted in the Elder’s Recess, so that’s where we are headed to face her.
Thanks to everyone’s diligent efforts, we know that Velkhana is in Elder’s Recess. We don’t know why it’s there, but we need our best hunters on the job. That means you!
Client: Commander – Monster Hunter World Iceborne
Velkhana makes heavy use of the Ice element, so bring armor that grants high levels of resistance to it or equip your Ice Resistance Jewels. Iceblight can really limit your dodging ability as well, either bring the Iceproof Mantle or Blight Resistance skill to counter it.
You’ll only be fighting her to the end of her first phase in this first confrontation, so focus on doing as much damage as you can to end the fight quickly. She starts off in the central area of the Elder’s Recess with the large rock formations overhead, use your slinger at the right time to inflict about 2,000 damage on her with the falling rocks. You’ll likely also get a knockdown from it. Overall this fight shouldn’t give you too much trouble, just come prepared.
Velkhana is weak to Fire, Thunder, and Dragon elements. Its weak points are the head, wings, and tail. You can break or sever the head, wings, and tail.
