A Wound and a Thirst Assignment Quest Monster Hunter World
Our next Assignment Quest in Monster Hunter World is called A Wound and a Thirst. We’re finally off to hunt our friend Nergigante. This will be our first Assignment Quest for hunting an Elder Dragon and be warned he hits like a truck.
Nergigante is weakest to both Thunder and Dragon elements, so bring appropriate weapons. His Horns and Tail are the weak points you’ll want to aim for with your attacks.
Nergigante’s whole deal revolves around growing spikes on his body. You’ll notice as you fight that he’ll grow large spines coming out of various areas, mostly; the wings, forelegs, head and tail.
These spikes are able to be broken when they first form, however after a while they will harden and add additional effects to some of Nergigante’s attacks. For example, if you allow the spikes on his head to harden his headbutt attacks will launch spikes in an AOE after the initial attack.
Nergigante has an aerial dive attack that is extremely dangerous. He will perform it if you allow him to grow spikes on all 4 parts of the body. Usually this will happen as he’s enraged, as the spikes seem to grow faster during a rage, and it’s also harder to damage them.
If you have a weapon that can block I usually use that instead of trying to avoid it, as it has a large impact area and the spikes it launches are also incredibly damaging. This attack will likely force you to cart the first times you encounter it. Keep at it and you’ll eventually be rewarded with a win.
