Betrayal Sword Guide
Betrayal Sword is a Miscellaneous item found in Final Fantasy VIII Remastered (FF8, FFVIII) it is used in weapon crafting and can be modded into Confuse or Esuna magic. A Betrayal Sword is typically obtained as a drop or steal from the Blitz enemy in Final Fantasy VIII, it can also be obtained in a few other ways, as shown below.
The Betrayal Sword item is mainly used as upgrade materials for one of Squall’s Gunblades as well as the ability to convert it into the valuable Confuse or Esuna magic. Confuse and Esuna magic are both very valuable for junctioning into stats. Confuse Magic is very useful to junction with Spd-J (+18 Speed) or onto the ST-Atk-J (+100% Confuse on hit). Esuna is best used in any of the following; Vit-J (+36 Vitality), Spr-J (+36 Spirit), or to ST-Def-J (+20% Resistance to Poison, Petrify, Darkness, Silence, Berserk, Sleep, Slow, Stop, Curse, and Confuse).
How to Find Betrayal Sword in the Early Game
In order to obtain Betrayal Sword as early as possible, you’ll need to use the Card Mod ability on the Forbidden Card. The Forbidden Card is fairly common, so if you are frequently card battling it shouldn’t take you long to find them.
Forbidden enemies that can be encountered in the Tomb of the Forgotten King also drop Betrayal Swords, if you’re fighting them between levels 1-19, if you’re over-leveled by that point in the game, then Card Mod is your best bet. You can also obtain it as a Drop or Steal (Mug) from the Blitz enemy that you’ll encounter in the Forests of the Centra Region.

How to find Betrayal Sword as a Drop
Betrayal Sword can be obtained as a common drop from the Blitz enemy at levels below 30. Between levels 1-19 Blitz has a 19% drop rate for Betrayal Sword, and levels 20-29 have a 5% chance of dropping one Betrayal Sword or a 4% chance of dropping two. Forbidden also drop the Betrayal Sword item if fought below level 20 they have a 69% drop rate. Blitz and Forbidden are found in the following locations:

How to Steal a Betrayal Sword (Mug Ability)
Betrayal Sword can also be obtained as a steal, using the Mug ability, against the Blitz enemy fought in the above-listed locations.
