Cid’s Limit Breaks
During Final Fantasy VII (FFVII, FF7) Cid will gain access to a total of seven Limit Breaks to learn. In general, he’ll learn new Limit Breaks by defeating enemies and also by using previously unlocked Limit Breaks.
Level 1 Limit Breaks
Boost Jump
Boost Jump is Cid’s first Limit Break and the one he begins the game having access to use.
The Boost Jump Limit Break deals 3.25x Cid’s regular attack damage to a single enemy.
Dynamite
The Dynamite Limit Break is unlocked after using Boost Jump a total of 7 times in battle.
Dynamite deals 2.25x Cid’s regular attack damage to all enemies on the battlefield.
Level 2 Limit Breaks
Hyper Jump
Cid’s Level 2 Limit Break, Hyper Jump, unlocks after he has defeated 60 enemies in battle.
Hyper Jump deals 3.25x Cid’s regular attack damage to all enemies on the field and has a low chance to inflict the “instant death” status as well. Note, if the enemies are immune it will not trigger the effect.
Dragon
To unlock the Dragon Limit Break you’ll need to use Hyper Jump 6 times in battle.
The Dragon Limit Break deals 1.25x Cid’s regular attack damage to one enemy. Cid also heals his HP and MP for 25% of the damage inflicted.
Level 3 Limit Breaks
Dragon Dive
To unlock Dragon Dive you’ll need Cid to defeat 76 enemies in battle after having unlocked the Dragon Limit Break
Dragon Dive will hit enemies in battle a total of 6 times for 1.4375x Cid’s regular attack damage on each hit. Each hit also has a small chance of inflicting the “instant death” status on the enemy, if the enemy is immune to the status though it will not affect them.
Big Brawl
You’ll unlock the second Level 3 Limit Break, Big Brawl, after using Dragon Dive a total of 5 times in battle.
Big Brawl attacks random enemies for a total of 8 hits, each dealing 1.125x Cid’s regular attack damage.
Level 4 Limit Breaks
Highwind
Cid’s Level 4 Limit Break, Highwind, is unlocked in the optional dungeon the Sunken Gelnika which can be reached with the Shinra Submarine. The Sunken Gelnika also contains a ton of other late-game items, making it well worth the trip.
For Cid’s Highwind Limit Break, Cid calls the Highwind to do a fly-by, hitting enemies on the field for a total of 18 times, each hit dealing 0.6875x Cid’s regular attack damage with each hit.
Gale Warning Trophy
Unlocking Cid’s Highwind Limit Break will also unlock the “Gale Warning” Trophy for your playthrough.
