Dragon Fang Guide
Dragon Fang is a Miscellaneous item found in Final Fantasy VIII Remastered (FF8, FFVIII) it is used in weapon crafting for Squall’s Ultimate weapon the Lion Heart, and can be modded into various items. A Dragon Fang is typically obtained as a drop from the Blue Dragon, Grendel, SAM08G, or Hexadragon enemy in Final Fantasy VIII.
The Dragon Fang item is mainly used as upgrade materials for Squall’s Ultimate Gunblade, the Lion Heart, and for crafting into items such as; Remedy, Med Kit, Remedy+, Megalixir, and Elixir.
How to Find Dragon Fang in the Early Game
In order to obtain Dragon Fangs as early as possible in the game you have 2 options. The first is to level your party to between levels 20-30 and fight T-rexaurs in the Balamb Garden Training Facility or in the Forests just outside the Garden. You have a chance to obtain the Dragon Fang items as a drop from those fights.
The second option is fighting Grendels which you can access when you’re on the Galbadia Continent and you can be at a much lower level as they drop them all the way up to level 30. The very earliest option to encounter Grendel enemies is just outside of the Galbadia Garden. Head outside and you’ll find a forest that is between two mountains. Here you’ll need to hug the edge of the mountain in order to encounter the Grendel enemies. If you check your menu while you’re in the correct position, hugging a mountain, it should read that you’re in Monterosa Plateau. Just ensure that you do not mug the Grendels, and you should quickly acquire all the Dragon Fangs you require to remodel to Squall’s Lion Heart.

How to find Dragon Fang as a Drop
Dragon Fang can be obtained as a common drop from the Blue Dragon enemy at all levels. Grendel’s common drop is Dragon Fang as long as they are under level 30. Hexadragon will only drop Dragon Fang below level 30. SAM08G will drop Dragon Fang as a rare drop at all levels. All enemies are found at the following locations:
