Energy Crystal Guide
Energy Crystal is a GF Medicine item found in Final Fantasy VIII Remastered (FF8, FFVIII) it is used in weapon crafting and can be modded into Ultima and Triple magic, or the valuable Pulse Ammo item. Energy Crystals are typically obtained as a drop from the Behemoth, Elnoyle, and Ruby Dragon enemies in Final Fantasy VIII, it can also be obtained in a few other ways, as shown below.
The Energy Crystal item is used as an upgrade material for one of Rinoa’s and Quistis’s weapons and can be modded into Ultima or Triple magic, as well as Pulse Ammo. Ultima and Triple magic are both very valuable for junctioning into stats. Ultima Magic is the most useful magic for junctioning in the game and increases the following stats: HP-J (+6,000 HP), Str-J (+100 Strength), Vit-J (+82 Vitality), Mag-J (+100 Magic), Spr-J (+95 Spirit), Spd-J (+60 Speed), Eva-J (+24 Evade), Hit-J (+60 Hit), Luck-J (+60 Luck), or onto the Elem-Def-J (+100% Resistance to the following elements: Fire, Ice, Thunder, Earth, Poison, Wind, Water, and Holy). Triple is best used in any of the following; Str-J (+70 Strength), Mag-J (+70 Magic), Spd-J (+70 Speed), Eva-J (+16 Evade), Hit-J (+150 Hit), and Luck-J (+30 Luck).
How to Find Energy Crystals in the Early Game
In order to obtain Energy Crystals as early as possible, you’ll need to use the Card Mod ability on the Elnoyle Card, which is a relatively easy card to obtain if you play plenty of card games.

How to find Energy Crystal as a Drop
The Energy Crystal can be obtained as a drop from the Behemoth, Elnoyle, and Ruby Dragon enemies at all levels. You’ll find the locations of these enemies below:

Energy Crystal cannot be obtained as a steal.
