Honing Your Hammer – Monster Hunter Rise

Our next quest in Monster Hunter Rise is the 5-Star Hub Quest, Honing Your Hammer. We’re off to the Sandy Plains to hunt a Pukei-Pukei and a Barroth. You’ll find the location of both monsters highlighted on the map so they’ll be no issue to track down.

Monster Hunter Rise

Pukei-Pukei

Pukei-Pukei is a Bird Wyvern Class Monster found in the Shrine Ruins, Sandy Plains, and Flooded Forest. It is weak to Thunder, Fire, and Ice elemental damage.

Pukei-Pukei can inflict the Poison status effect with its breath attacks, be sure to bring Antidotes to counter this ability. You can cut off Pukei-Pukei’s tail to prevent it from using some of its most powerful attacks.

Barroth

Barroth is a Brute Wyvern found primarily in the Sandy Plains. It is weak to Fire, Dragon, and Ice elements.

Barroth will attempt to slow your movement with the mud that it throws off of its body. It will often try to pair this will one of its powerful charge attacks. Keep your stamina high to make sure you can always evade out of the way of the charges. You can cure Waterblight, if you get affected by it, with a Nullberry.
