Ok, this place is fairly unique in that the minimap is completely useless here. You’ll need to navigate by using the name of the area instead, so keep that in mind. Also, the best map I’ve found for navigating this area appears on the Jegged.com website, you can reach it here. With that out of the way, let’s get started.
A Prama Vikaari
When you first enter you’ll be in the area called A Prama Vikaari, from here you’ll notice a locked gate (Scorpio) and two gaps. If you approach the gaps you’ll spawn bridges, one leading up, and the other leading down.
Take the bridge that leads down a level.
Kabonii Jilaam Pratii’vaa
Grab the chest in the center of the platform for a Cloud Staff and then take the only exit down one more level.
Kabonii Jilaam Avaa
Grab the chest here containing a Thief’s Cap and use the exit to go down another level.
Dha Vikaari Bhrum
Here you’ll find Waystone VII in the center of the platform, activate it to be transported to the next area.
A Vikaari Kabonii
Here you’ll find that three exits that split off of the platform. Take the center exit to the next area.
Bhrum Pis Avaa
Here you’ll find a chest with a Holy Rod inside. Grab it and then take the only other exit.
Sthaana Cancer
Here you’ll need to clear out the enemies before you can activate the Cancer Gate Stone in the center of the platform. Take the other exit to arrive back in A Vikaari Kabonii.
A Vikaari Kabonii
Here you’ll find the third exit that used to be blocked by the Cancer Gate is now open. Take it to reach the next area. It was the rightmost of the three exits.
Bhrum Pis Pratii
Grab the treasure in the center of the platform for a Golden Hairpin. Head down the exit and into the next area.
Dha Vikaari Trahk
Here you’ll find Waystone V, activate it to be taken to the next area.
A Vikaari Bhrum
Another room with three exits. One is the Pisces Gate, which is locked for now. Take the leftmost of the other two gates to arrive in the next area.
Trahk Jilaam Praa’dii
Grab the chest to obtain some Ninja Gear. Then head through into the next area.
Sthaana Aries
In the center of the platform, you’ll find the Aries Gate Stone. Activate it and then make your way back two platforms, through Trahk Jilaam Praa’dii and into A Vikaari Bhrum.
A Vikaari Bhrum
From here take the center passage to the next area.
Trahk Pis Praa
Grab the Gaia Gear from the chest, then use the other exit.
Sthaana Pisces
Activate the Pisces Gate Stone and take the other exit through to the next area.
Dha Vikaari Jula
Here activate Waystone III to trigger a scene.
After the scene, continue on and save your game at the Save Crystal. Activate the next Way Stone to be taken to a Boss Battle.
Boss Battle: Shemhazai
Boss: | Shemhazai |
HP: | 91,136 |
Elemental Weakness: | Changes over time. |
Status Effect Weakness: | Immobilize, Slow |
Resistances: | - Changes over time (Absorb) - N/A (50% Effective) - N/A (Nullified) |
Steal: | Sagittarius Gem Hi-Ether High Arcana |
This Boss will change its elemental weaknesses over time, the main issue with this is that you’ll want your party attacking with non-elemental weapons to avoid accidentally healing him when he changes elements. He also likes to cast Silence, so any healers or spellcasters you have will need Rose Corsages to protect against that Status Effect. For the most part, sticking to Physical attackers with 1 dedicated healer in the group is likely the best way to go. After this Boss Battle, you’ll receive Shamhazai as a new Esper for your troubles.
Grab the two chests in the room after the battle for a couple of Motes, then use the other doorway to access the Empyrean Way Stone. Activate the Way Stone for some scenes and to receive the Treaty Blade.
Use the Tellurian Way Stone in front of you to return to the Teleport Crystal back in Giruvegan.
Balfonheim Port
Head back to Balfonheim and visit all the shops, they’ll all stock new gear and magicks now that we’ve completed The Great Crystal.
Make your way over to the marker on the map and speak to the man blocking the way to gain access to Reddas’ Place. Here you’ll trigger a few more scenes.
After the story scenes unfold you’ll now have access to the Strahl at any Aerodome. Head inside one and look for the gate attendant labeled “Private Airships”. From here you can continue with the main story by heading for the Ridorana Cataract, or start to clear off some of the end game side quests.
Some of the side quests will need access to the last few areas of the game, so you won’t be able to complete them all until you’ve unlocked the next few areas.
New Magick – Scourge
If you feel like taking a detour, one of the most powerful magicks in the game, Scourge, is now available to purchase. You’ll find it being sold by the Seeq merchant in the Barheim Passage. He is at the very northern end of the area.
Head over to the Ridorana Cataract when you’re ready to proceed. You’ll also trigger a number of cutscenes as you arrive.
Ridorana Cataract

Footfalls of the Past
Continue east and up the stairs, here you’ll find a Save Crystal. Use it if you need and then take the eastern exit.
Echoes from Time’s Garden
There are several chests here you might want to grab. The first contains a Cleric’s Robe and can appear in the first split to the north. East of the center of this area you can spawn a chest with a chance to contain a Gigas Chestplate, another chest can spawn slightly south of that containing a Gigas Hat. A Celebrant’s Miter can appear south of the first northern split, tucked away in the corner.
Grab anything you might want and then take the southern exit into the Colosseum.
Colosseum
Here you can find a Greataxe in a chest, take the south path from the center of the Colosseum and go as far west as possible. On the same path, if you take the east split you’ll find a Holy Lance. Backtrack to where you first took the south split from the main Colosseum section and head east this time to find a chest with an Ame-No-Murakumo inside.
Take the eastern split from the Colosseum and follow the path south when you can to find a chest with a Save the Queen inside, you’ll also find a small ‘off map’ section here that can contain the Yoichi Bow.
Take the north split from the Colosseum and then the east path to find the Ridorana Cataract Map here. Once you’ve gathered everything, continue out through the north exit.
City of Other Days
Follow the path along, you’ll find a chest at the first turn to the west, containing a Pheasant Netsuke. In the northeastern corner of the map is a guaranteed chest containing Gillie Boots. Grab them both and then use the northeastern exit.
Path of Hidden Blessing
**BE VERY CAREFUL!** There is an entire line of traps leading up to the Save Crystal here. Use it if you need, and grab the chest by the exit containing a Sweep. Head through the door to reach the first area of Pharos.
Pharos
