Baptism By Ice Monster Hunter World Iceborne Assignment Quest

The first quest of the Iceborne expansion is Baptism By Ice. You start the quest by talking to the hunters by the gate and begin an expedition to investigate a Legiana Sighting. Watch the cutscenes and soon enough you’ll be landing in a new Icy area called: Hoarfrost Reach.

After the narratives are done you’ll be tasked with hunting a new monster the Beotodus, he’s very similar to an Ice version of Lavasioth. This can be surprisingly tough as it is the first Master-Rank hunt and this new monster pulls no punches. If your struggling make sure you have access to both the Temporal Mantle and Ice-proof mantle, they will make this easier. This quest to some extent is also a gear check. Make sure you bring equipment with high Ice resistance that has been upgraded as much as possible, otherwise Beotodus will hit you like a truck.

The actual fight itself is similar to fighting either Lavasioth or Jyuratodus, just with an added Ice element and Ice blight. Beotodus is weakest against Fire and Thunder, so pack an appropriate weapon to make the job a little easier. Its head, legs, and tail are the weak points so make sure to focus there where possible. The head, back, legs, and tail are all breakable as well.

Persevere and eventually you’ll take home the win and unlock Master-Rank!
