Cockatrice Pinion Guide

Cockatrice Pinion is a Miscellaneous item found in Final Fantasy VIII Remastered (FF8, FFVIII) it is used in weapon crafting and can be refined into Break Magic or the Soft item. Cockatrice Pinions are typically obtained as a drop or steal from the Cockatrice enemy in Final Fantasy VIII, it can also be obtained in a few other ways, as shown below.

The Cockatrice Pinion is used as an upgrade material for Rinoa’s Cardinal weapon. It can also be refined into Break Magic or into the Soft item, which cures the Petrify status.

How to Find Cockatrice Pinion in the Early Game

In order to obtain Cockatrice Pinion as early as possible, you’ll need to use the Card Mod ability on the Cockatrice or Iguion Card, which are relatively easy cards to obtain if you play plenty of card games.
