Gone In A Flash Monster Hunter World Optional Quest

The next optional quest is Gone In A Flash, our very first in-game opportunity to fight an Elder Dragon. This quest has us go to the Coral Highlands to hunt a Kirin. The quest itself isn’t unlocked unless you complete 4 other capture quests including; Snatch the Snatcher, Landing the Landslide Wyvern, White Monster for a White Coat, and Man’s Best Fiend.

Kirin itself is not a difficult fight, it is very quick so hitting it can be a challenge. You’ll also need to either bring lightning resistant armor or learn to read some of its bigger lightning attacks. For successfully completing this quest we unlock the Thunderproof mantle, which makes fighting kirin much easier in the future.

Kirins’ only weak point is the horn on its head, so focus your attacks there when you can. Breaking the horn or using a weapon with Elderseal will weaken it a little, also be sure to bring Fire, Water, or Ice element weapons to take advantage of its elemental weaknesses.
