Infernal Lacrimosa – Monster Hunter Rise

Our next quest in Monster Hunter Rise is the 4-Star Quest, Infernal Lacrimosa. We’re off to the Frost Islands to hunt a Somnacanth. You’ll find the location of the Somnacanth highlighted on the map so he’ll be no issue to track down.

I was tasked to hunt a so-called “Mermaid Dragon,” in the Frost Islands. Upon arriving, I heard what sounded like a song and instantly fell asleep. I woke up back at camp covered in gashes and cuts. What happened out there!?

Monster Hunter Rise

Somnacanth is a Leviathan Class Monster found in the Frost Islands, Flooded Forest, and Lava Caverns. It is weak to Thunder and Fire elemental damage.

The Somnacanth has the ability to inflict the sleep status with its breath attacks, so take care. If you can break its head though, you will limit its ability to produce the sleep effect when it uses its breath attack. Somnacanth’s mobility is severely affected if you can force it to fight on land. You can evade many of Somnacanth’s biggest attacks by using the Wirebug to simply jump out of the way.

Carves, Drops, and Rewards for slaying a Low-Rank Somnacanth can include; Somnacanth Scale, Somnacanth Shell, Somnacanth Fin, Somnacanth Dust, Monster Bone L, Somnacanth Talon, and Wyvern Tear.
