The Secret Ingredient – Monster Hunter Rise
Our next quest in Monster Hunter Rise is the 5-Star Quest, The Secret Ingredient. We’re off to the Frost Islands to capture a Somnacanth. You’ll find the location of the Somnacanth highlighted on the map so he’ll be no issue to track down.
So my idea is to make these new Bunny Dango that’ll refresh you just like a power nap would. But to do that, I need you to capture a Somnacanth so I can use its song to make a recipe! I love you and please!
Monster Hunter Rise
Somnacanth is a Leviathan Class Monster found in the Frost Islands, Flooded Forest, and Lava Caverns. It is weak to Thunder and Fire elemental damage.
This is a capture quest, so remember to bring your traps and tranq bombs. You’ll want to reduce Somnacanth’s Health until it is limping, be careful not to accidentally slay it, then trap it and use a couple of your tranq bombs on it while it is trapped to put it to sleep and capture it.
In Monster Hunter Rise they have implemented a blue icon below the image of the monster on the top right of the screen, this icon will start to show once Somnacanth’s Health is low enough that it can be captured. No more guesswork and wasted traps!
Remember to use your wirebug to avoid Somnacanth’s sleep attacks. Other than that, you’ve fought this monster before and should be very familiar by now with its moveset.
Carves, Drops, and Rewards for slaying a Low-Rank Somnacanth can include; Somnacanth Scale, Somnacanth Shell, Somnacanth Fin, Somnacanth Dust, Monster Bone L, Somnacanth Talon, and Wyvern Tear.
