A Few Bumps Along The Way – Monster Hunter Rise

Our next quest in Monster Hunter Rise is the 3-Star Hub Quest, A Few Bumps Along The Way. We’re off to the Sandy Plains to hunt a Diablos. You’ll find the location of the Diablos highlighted on the map so he’ll be no issue to track down.

A buddy of mine told me about this “great shortcut” he found. The road was so bumpy I fell off my cart right into a cactus patch. And to make matters worse, a Diablos appeared out of nowhere and turned my cart into splinters… Why do these things always happen to me !?

Monster Hunter Rise

Diablos is a Flying Wyvern Class Monster found in the Sandy Plains. It is weak to Ice, Water, Dragon, and Thunder elemental damage.

Fighting Diablos will involve a ton of running around the map, constantly chasing him down. His main attack is a long distance charge, with a very large hitbox on it. This means that unless you’re quick, you’ll likely get caught by it as he runs past you. If you can bait him into charging into the large Ant Hills you’ll find littered around the Sandy Plains he can sometimes get stuck, resulting in a great chance to score some hits.

Diablos has one other attack of note, that is his burrowing. He has the ability to burrow into the sand and explode out from underneath you, causing substantial damage. Once he has burrowed, he can be brought to the surface by using a Sonic Bomb. This will result in him getting caught, as though you had used a pitfall trap on him. If you’re not quick enough to get the Sonic Bomb off though, you can also guard the burrowing attack if you dont believe you’ll have the time to avoid it.

Carves, Drops, and Rewards for slaying a Low-Rank Diablos can include; Diablos Shell, Diablos Ridge, Diablos Fang, Diablos Tailcase, Dash Extract, Diablos Marrow, Twisted Horn, and Wyvern Tear.
