The Hottest Around – Monster Hunter Rise

Our next quest in Monster Hunter Rise is the 5-Star Quest, The Hottest Around. We’re off to the Lava Caverns to hunt a Tetranadon and a Volvidon. You’ll find the location of both monsters highlighted on the map so they’ll be no issue to track down.

A Volvidon rammed into a Tetranadon! I don’t know what they were fighting over, but it was amazing! Until they came rolling my way and almost turned me into roadkill! Leave me outta this, will ya!

Monster Hunter Rise

Tetranadon

Tetranadon is a large Amphibian Monster found primarily in the Shrine Ruins, Frost Islands, and Lava Caverns. It is weak to Thunder, Fire, and Ice elements.

Tetranadon is most dangerous when it switches stance and stands up on its back legs. From this position, Tetranadon gains new attacks that can strike you if you happen to be standing to the side of him. His leaping attacks gain a considerable damage boost as well, you’ll need to take care if you are at or below half health, as these will now easily finish you off. To bring him back to his regular stance you’ll need to focus your attacks on his belly, eventually, he’ll stagger and return to normal.

Volvidon

Volvidon is a Fanged Beast Class Monster found in the Sandy Plains and Lava Caverns. It is weak to Water, Thunder, and Ice elemental damage.

Volvidon can be a real nuisance to chase down with its constant rolling around. Try to stay on top of it by making liberal use of your Wiredash movements. You can also use traps to help keep him still long enough to do a fairly considerable amount of damage. You’ll need to pack Deodorants for this fight as well, as Volvidon can inflict a status effect called Stench with many of its attacks. This status effect prevents you from being able to use items to recover your health or stamina for a period of time.
