Comeuppance – Monster Hunter Rise
Our next quest in Monster Hunter Rise is the 5-Star Quest, Comeuppance. We’re off to the Shrine Ruins to hunt a Magnamalo. You’ll find the location of the Magnamalo highlighted on the map so he’ll be no issue to track down.
Durin’ the Rampage fifty years ago, Magnamalo showed up and caused an epic mess. We can’t let that happen ever again. You gotta take down Magnamalo! Now go get to it.
Monster Hunter Rise
Magnamalo is a Fanged Wyvern Class Monster found in the Shrine Ruins, Frost Islands, and Lava Caverns. It is weak to Water and Thunder elemental damage.
During the fight, Magnamalo will become more and more enveloped by his flames. He has four levels to this state, if he reaches the final state, he will perform a very specific combo attack consisting of a dash, leaving explosive clouds behind, followed by a large leap attack. If you’ve played Monster Hunter World, it is similar to the way Nergigante worked, he would grow spines on his body until they reached the final stage of growth and then perform his superman dive attack which would then reset the state.
Magnamalo also introduces the Hellfire state, if you see spots of it engulf his body, you can attack those parts to extinguish it and buy yourself more time before hes able to reach a fully ‘charged’ state. If you yourself become affected by Hellfire, performing a Wirebug dash will leave a purple flame on the ground where you were. If Magnamalo attacks this he will be knocked down. It wont be as effective from the second use onwards, but still quite a handy little buff if you can use it correctly.
Carves, Drops, and Rewards for slaying a Low-Rank Magnamalo can include; Magnamalo Scale, Magnamalo Shell, Magnamalo Blade, Magnamalo Scute, Magnamalo Tail, Magna Ghostprism, Magnamalo Plate, Magnamalo Horn, and Wyvern Tear.
