Our next quest in Monster Hunter Rise is the 6-Star Hub Quest, Invoke The Insect Glaive. We’re off to the Frost Islands to hunt a Somnacanth and an Aknosom. You’ll find the location of them both highlighted on the map so they’ll be no issue to track down.

Somnacanth

Somnacanth is a Leviathan Class Monster found in the Frost Islands, Flooded Forest, and Lava Caverns. It is weak to Thunder and Fire elemental damage.

Most of Somnacanth’s sleep attacks can be dodged using the Wirebug, so make sure to use it liberally in this fight. Breaking the head of Somnacanth will make it sometimes fail to activate its sleep breath attacks. You can also bait this fight onto land to drastically reduce its mobility.

Aknosom

Aknosom is a Bird Wyvern Class Monster found in the Shrine Ruins and Frost Islands. It is weak to Water, Thunder, and Ice elemental damage.

Aknosom will attack primarily with Fire elemental attacks and can inflict the Fireblight status as well. If you can draw Aknosom into fighting in the water, you will prevent it from being able to create its flaming puddles on the ground. Rolling in the water will also immediately put out Fireblight.
