Study The Switch Axe – Monster Hunter Rise

Our next quest in Monster Hunter Rise is the 4-Star Hub Quest, Study The Switch Axe. We’re off to the Frost Islands to hunt a Lagombi and a Khezu. You’ll find the location of them both highlighted on the map so they’ll be no issue to track down.

Alright, Ace, lesson time! The Lagombi and the Khezu may both be white but that’s where their similarities end. If you can take on this contrasting pair at once, you’ll discover the essence of the switch axe.

Monster Hunter Rise

Lagombi

Lagombi is a Fanged Beast class Monster found primarily in the Frost Islands. It is weak to both Fire and Thunder elements.

You’ll have fought Lagombi a few times by now so he should be no problem. Remember that when he starts sliding around on the ice you can disrupt him with a Sonic Bomb. Once he falls, move onto the Khezu.

Carves, Drops, and Rewards for slaying a High-Rank Lagombi can include; Lagombi Pelt +, Lagombi Plastron, Lagombi Frozenclaw, Stoutbone, Beast Gem, Lagombi Ear +, Beast Tear, and Large Beast Tear.

Khezu

Khezu is a Flying Wyvern Class Monster found in the Frost Islands and Lava Caverns. It is weak to Fire elemental damage.

Khezu is definitely the harder of the two monsters here. You’ll need to make sure you keep your Health near full and avoid being afflicted with its Thunderblight. Thunderblight will cause your hunter to become stunned more regularly, combined with Khezu’s highly damaging electric attacks can be devastating. You can use a Nullberry to clear the status or simply use armor with higher than 20 Thunder Resistance, this will grant you full immunity to the blight status.

Carves, Drops, and Rewards for slaying a High-Rank Khezu can include; Pearl Hide, Suspicious Fang +, Pale Extract, Pale Bone, Pale Steak, Thunder Sac, Monster Keenbone, Wyvern Gem, Wyvern Tear, and Large Wyvern Tear.
