Study The Sword & Shield – Monster Hunter Rise
Our next quest in Monster Hunter Rise is the 4-Star Hub Quest, Study The Sword & Shield. We’re off to the Frost Islands to slay an Aknosom. You’ll find the location of the Aknosom highlighted on the map so they’ll be no issue to track down.
Alright, Ace, lesson time! An Aknosom makes clever use of its big crest to fight, right? Understand how to maneuver around these kinds of attacks and you’ll learn the very essence of the sword & shield!
Monster Hunter Rise
Aknosom is a Bird Wyvern Class Monster found in the Shrine Ruins and Frost Islands. It is weak to Water, Thunder, and Ice elemental damage.
Aknosom attacks using Fire elemental damage, if you can lure it near water you can negate a large portion of its attacks. Rolling in water will immediately quench Fireblight and being in water will prevent it from being able to leave its puddles of fire on the ground after its attacks.
Another option is to equip armor with higher than 20 Fire Resistance. At 20 of any elemental resistance you become immune to that elements ‘Blight’ status effect. The high resistance will also help to dampen the damage you recieve from most of Aknosom’s attacks.
Carves, Drops, and Rewards for slaying a High-Rank Aknosom can include; Aknosom Scale +, Aknosom Feather +, Aknosom Beak, Inferno Sac, Bird Wyvern Gem, Monster Keenbone, Aknosom Crest +, Wyvern Tear, and Large Wyvern Tear.
